WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF MASSAGE?

Massage is the manipulation of the body's soft tissues. Massage techniques are applied with hands, fingers , elbows and forearms. The purpose of massage is a treatment for the body to relieve stress and pain.

A swedish massage is designed more to relax the entire body by rubbing the muscles in long, gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. But the benefits of swedish massage go beyond relaxation. It can help increase the level of oxygen in the blood and improve circulation and flexibility. This treatment is suited to a client interested in relaxation and tension relief with a lighter pressure being applied.

Deep tissue is similar to swedish massage it is also relaxing but the pressure applied is deeper and firmer. It targets the inner layers of your muscles tendons and fascia. Deep tissue massage uses many of the same stroking and kneading movements to swedish massage, but there is far more pressure applied which i can tailor to your problem areas. It can also help increase blood flow to the soft tissues and may help to reduce inflammation. It is the perfect massage for a client who likes a firmer pressure, a regular gym goer / athlete and people with injuries. You will experience in some cases some soreness in the days following your deep tissue massage but you will be given the appropriate after care.
