LED Phototherapy means 'Treatment with light' it is the application of low-level energy to stimulate or regulate biological process with proven therapeutic effects. Specific wavelengths interact with biological systems and activate key cell receptors which consequently trigger  a transfer of light energy to cellular energy. Skin cells that are energised function better and can renew faster to promote youthful, healthy and radiant skin.

Successful treatment with LED Phototherapy is determined by delivering clinically proven wavelengths at an optimised intensity to maximise the light / chromophore interaction that allow for these specific cellular reactions to take place. A chromophore is a target in the skin that has unique light absorbing properties.

Frequently asked questions

Why is a course of treatments recommended?

12 Treatments are generally recommended for all indications at a frequency of 2-3 sessions a week. Clients will be reviewed at the end of the course to assess progress and further treatments / maintance may then be advised.

How often should I have courses?

Due to cell activation, results can last for several weeks following a course of dermalux treatments. However regular maintainence treatments are advised to extend results as part of an on-going skin health programme.

How long should I leave between each session?

A 24 hour period between treatments is generally recommended for inflammatory conditions such as acne, redness and sensitive skin however for general skin rejuvenation, treatments can be taken in daily sucession.

Can I add Dermalux on to a treatment?

Dermalux can be combined with a wide range of treatments including skin peels, microneedling, mesotherapy, dermaplaning and facials. It will also advance the results of more traditional facials. It is particularly effective with resurfacing treatments where superficial layers of the skin are removed. Dead skin cells create uneven surface which increases reflection of lgiht. Creating a smooth and more homogenous surface allows light to pass through the protective barrier of the skin. It can also calm redness and irratation post tretament to reduce downtime.

How long are you under the light for?

30 miniutes unless you are adding it on after a treatment. After a treament it will be 20 minutes.
